Who do you know?

I'm starting a new blog tonight about the Public Relations Industry.  Nothing specifically, but whatever comes to mind.

Sitting in class tonight, I was thinking about the relationships you build with others around you.  In today's society, with all of the education we receive, is it really about what you know?

Social Networking is as much a part of our life as breathing and eating, and now the stress is being placed on how well we can get our name out there.  Between blogging, tweeting, facebooking, and other social networks, I have to ask again...is it really about what you know?  About what you learn sitting in a classroom almost 15 hours a week?

It sounds cliche, but it can't be about what you know anymore, but instead who you know.  What sets you apart from the next college graduate?  It didn't hit me till now that these social media sites can open the door for your future and it's simple.  I just opened my own twitter account (follow me) and it's the perfect way to connect with people in the industry.

We're living in an Age of Multimedia and without networking, who are you?
